Selected work

Twenty years, on the record.

A short list of what's been performed, published, presented, taught, and broadcast. Not a CV; a set of receipts. Each section is a claim, with the evidence underneath.

Four-week residential. Fewer than twenty fitters worldwide have completed it.
Founder & President, IBFI (2014–2023)
The independent professional body for bike fitting; still operating, still independent.
Founder, AIDOS (2025)
Positional tracking and comparative-fit system, built to scaffold the method in the studio.
Head of Biomechanics, Cyclologic Group, 2020–23
International education, technology integration, and the Trek training partnership.
01 · Performance

Selected high-performance work.

The work I'm most often asked about. Some is named, some is confidential by convention.

  • Leigh Timmis — Fastest Cycle Across Europe world record, 2018. I was Leigh's fitter for the record attempt. The story is in his published book The Race of Truth: A Record-Breaking Bike Ride Across Europe (Mirror Books, 2023, ISBN 9781837991402), where I'm credited.
  • GB Paratriathlon — Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 medal campaigns. Positional biomechanics and equipment work for athletes preparing for both Games, including Rio Paralympic medallists.
  • Elise Christie — World Champion speed skater. On-camera bike fit broadcast on Sky Sports, March 2017.
  • USA Triathlon — wind-tunnel positional testing. Delivered as Head of Biomechanics at Cyclologic Group.
  • A World Champion mountain biker — details confidential by sponsor agreement.
  • ProTour rider positional consulting — clients confidential. Standard professional discretion.
02 · Research

Where I've published.

The peer-reviewed work that grounds the method. The PhD is paused at write-up; the rest stands.

  • Brooke, A. (2014). Relationship between leg length and trunk orientation in cycling. Journal of Science and Cycling, Vol. 3 No. 2 (Science & Cycling Congress, Leeds). Read on JSC.
  • PhD, Cycling Biomechanics, Nottingham Trent University, 2015–2023 (paused, thesis write-up pending). Research on ankle biomechanics in time-trial cyclists.
  • MRes Sport Science (Merit), Nottingham Trent University, 2011–2012. The 2014 paper above draws on this thesis.
03 · Speaking

Where I've spoken.

Conferences and symposia where the method has been presented to the discipline, including the keynote at IBFI Asia 2019, an event I co-organised.

  • IBFI Asia, 2019 — keynote speaker and co-organiser.
  • Science & Cycling Conference, 2014 — presented MRes thesis (the 2014 JSC paper above). Returned in 2016 and 2022.
  • International Cyclefit Symposium (ICS) — across the symposium's run, 2012–2016.
  • Slovenian Cycling Science Conference, 2016.
04 · Teaching

Where I've taught.

Educational work delivered to the industry's biggest platforms, plus undergraduate teaching at the university where my research is housed.

  • Cyclologic Education global programmes, 2020–2023. Designed and delivered as Head of Biomechanics. Trained other educators to teach the same logic across Cyclologic's international network, including the partnership with Trek Bikes.
  • Cyclologic webinar series, 2020 (paid Vimeo). Foot Anatomy and Insoles for Bike Fitting; Cycling Anatomy; Aerodynamics in Cycling; PAILs/RAILs for Bike Fitting. Cycling Anatomy on Vimeo.
  • MotionMetriq YouTube series — five episodes, all presented by me. Watch on YouTube.
  • Founding Editor, International Bike Fitter Magazine (the IBFI publication).
  • Guest lecturer, Nottingham Trent University. Four undergraduate biomechanics lectures within the Sports Engineering department, who draft in biomechanists for that part of the programme.
Video Capture in Bike Fitting. A science-based look at how motion capture earns its place in a fit studio, and how to set the studio up to use it well. Intro from Paraic McGlynn, founder of Cyclologic.
05 · Press

Industry write-ups.

Notices in the cycling trade press across the past decade, mostly off the back of IBFI announcements and studio updates I've put out. Listed here for the record.

06 · Podcasts & panels

On other people's microphones.

Conversations and panels where the method's been pressure-tested in front of someone else's audience.

  • Podcast with Fernando Riego — full conversation on the method and the studio. Watch on YouTube.
  • Webinar panel with Rick Schultz — guest appearance on a fitter-to-fitter conversation. Watch on YouTube.
A note on what's not here

Most of it stays in the room.

A lot of the work I do isn't on this page, by the nature of it. ProTour fits, brand consulting, ongoing mentoring, the cases that taught me the method itself: most of it stays inside the rooms it happens in, and that's how the people involved want it. If you'd like to talk about whether I can help with a specific piece of work, the quickest route is a short email.
