The approach

What makes Andy different.

Most fit methodologies apply rules. This one asks why. Andy's work focuses on cause and effect — understanding what's happening in the rider, why it's happening, and how changes influence the system.

That leads to clearer decisions, fewer unresolved problems, and results you can explain and repeat.

At the core of Andy's approach is a simple framework:

01 Variables

What is actually happening in the rider and the system.

02 Mechanisms

Why those things are happening.

03 Forces

What is acting on the rider, and how position changes those forces.

Used together, this turns fitting from trial and error into something structured, repeatable and explainable.

About Andy Brooke

Andy has worked in cycling for more than two decades, from mechanic and guide through to studio practice, research and consultancy.

He founded the International Bike Fitting Institute in 2014, and was Head of Biomechanics at Cyclologic and Velogic, fitting some of the most demanding riders in the sport. His work spans everyday cyclists through to elite and professional riders, including GB Paratriathlon medallists, Olympic athletes and world-record endurance riders.

Andy is one of fewer than twenty fitters worldwide to complete Steve Hogg's four-week residential training programme. His own work is grounded in both hands-on practice and formal research, including post-graduate study into ankle biomechanics in time-trial cyclists.

His focus is applied cycling biomechanics: understanding how position, movement and forces interact, and using that understanding to improve outcomes for both riders and fitters.
